James 2:1-17 | Lesson 5

The reason why we are not to show favoritism is that our lives are to be grounded by our faith in Christ. If our lives appear to be appealing to unbelievers, we are not living out a good witness for Christ because our lives are to reflect our faith in Him. Jesus came to save those who are lost. He came to save His enemies. When people show favoritism, they fear men more than God and they have a problem with mammon worship, the worship of material wealth or riches. We are not to steward ministries in the same way that businesses are run. We are to treat the poor as though they were rich, and the rich as though they were poor.
