Benefits to Those who Follow the Crucified King
Series Matthew: Discipleship Manual
56
Following D. A. Carson's observation that irony pervades this portion of Matthew (Scandalous, ch. 1), Joe describes about a half dozen example of Matthew's profound irony, then he explains (based on Matthew 27:50-54) the three great benefits that are given to those who follow the crucified king: (1) forgiveness, (2) access to God, and (3) future resurrection. Joe especially applies the importance of personally enjoying the presence of God, quoting much from David Mathis' helpful book, Habits of Grace.
