The New Jerusalem, Part 2: Enemies Defeated

John's vision opens with a declaration that "the sea was no more." This is a summary statement that the evil powers that rule the earth are no more. John, following Daniel 7, uses seas as the origin and platform of cosmic evil.

We also read that "nothing unclean will enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false." In other words, no corrupt and sinning flesh will be there. Flesh is the enemy within.

Jesus Christ came in the flesh to deal with sin and to redeem a people who through regeneration and resurrection will be changed and purified.
