Worrying Like An Atheist

Jesus tells us that those who do not believe in the God of Scripture (“the Gentiles”) have no other goal in life than to pursue material things.  In part, this is because they only believe in a material world.  It should be no surprise if all their focus is on material things.  Therefore, their energy is spent on trying to secure them.  Jesus commands us to not be like them.  We must remember that the greatest things are not material, but spiritual; and that to try to guarantee what happens tomorrow is the essence of atheism.
