Lord's Day 30 The community that is united by faith must celebrate Lord's Supper
26 ( 20 | 6 )
The community that is united by faith in Jesus Christ must celebrate the Holy Supper together:
- The Lord calls us to come to His table
- And then the consistory admits us to the Lord’s table
Questions to think about during the sermon:
Introduction:
- Why must especially Reformed Churches seriously consider whether children don’t have a place at the
Holy Supper table?
Point 1: - According to the catechism, what must our children do before they can attend the Holy Supper?
- What does the Old Testament say about who must celebrate the Holy Supper? What about … exceptions?
- What does the New Testament say about how we need to celebrate the Holy Supper? And how do we
apply that New Testament teaching? - Which other – related – questions might we discuss in connection with this topic?
Point 2: - What is the difference between question 81 and question 82 of the catechism? Why are both of these
questions important? - What process does consistory use to admit people to the Lord’s table? Historically, where does this
process come from? What did it replace?
8 Why must the consistory take (some) responsibility for whom it admits to the Holy Supper table?
