All Day Long I Have Held Out My Arms
Israel is responsible for the word of Christ. (17-19)
They have heard the Gospel (18)
It is gone to “all the earth” (Ps 19:1-4)
They have understood the Gospel (19-20)
God’s promise to make Israel jealous (19) (Deut 32:21)
I will make you jealous of those who are not a nation
With a foolish nation I will make you angry
God’s promise to reveal Himself to the Gentiles (20) (Isa 65:1)
I have been found by those who did not seek me
I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me
They have rejected the Gospel (21) (Isa 65:2)
God’s steadfast invitation (21a)
All day long I have held out my hands
Israel’s steadfast rejection (21b)
To a disobedient and contrary people
But…it is not a permanent rejection…God will draw His people to Himself!
One day, they will come!
Applications
Unbelievers: Come!
Believers: Listen, and go!
Hold out your hands to a disobedient and contrary people!
