A. WHAT HAPPENED

1. Then JESUS came…[13a]

2. Then Jesus came TO BE BAPTIZED…[13b]

a. identification with John’s message

b. identification with sinners

3. But John tried to deter Him…[14]

a. because of who Jesus is

b. because of what John is

4. Jesus replied, “Let it be so now…” [15]

B. WHAT THIS MEANS

Jesus…went up out of the water

Behold!

1. Heaven is now open [16a]

2. The presence and power of God is now with us [16b]

God made Him [Jesus] who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him [Jesus] we might become the righteousness of God.
