The greatest modern prophet of the heresy of Socinianism was Norman Vincent Peale that taught that Man was capable, in and of himself, to better himself and improve his status, and even redeem himself through the power of his own thoughts and attitude. Only that which glorifies God, not self, is of God, and only that which glorifies God will last.
