Why does God cause me to Stumble?

26
  1. Our fallen nature will not allow us to trust in the goodness of God. (The Problem)
    [What Shall We Say Then?]
  2. God is the most miraculous thing in saving us so that we see that we are not able to save ourselves. (Correction)
    a. God shows us that sin is the separation that can be forgiven. [That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained, that is, a righteousness that is by faith;]
    b. God also shows us that self- righteousness is a separation that cannot be forgiven. [… But that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness did not succeed in reaching that. Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works.]
  3. We cannot trust ourselves but must trust in what God shows us. (The Follow-Through) [they have stumbled over the stumbling stone, as it is written, "Behold, I Am Laying in Zion a Stone of Stumbling, and a rock of offense; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame."
