Daniel's Second Vision

Daniel received his first visions in verses 1-14, explaining how God was going to deliver Israel because of her sin. Now Daniel desires an interpretation to fully understand his dream. Daniel's dream involved four successive Gentile nations ruling over Israel, the antichrist dominating, the Ancient of Days preparing to judge, and One like a Son of Man receiving authority to rule over the world forever and ever. Daniel is distressed and dismayed at this revelation and seeks further information about the unique fourth kingdom and the little horn that ultimately dominates all the others. God gives Daniel assurance that the final kingdom of man and the antichrist will be defeated, and the eternal kingdom of God will be firmly established and never cease to reign.
