Striving Against Sin

The Hebrew people were chosen by God to receive special favor. The ultimate manifestation of favor was this: by them the Savior of mankind was delivered to humanity. But when the Savior came, many struggled. He was not what their longstanding religious traditions had envisioned, thus His life and ministry were at odds with their conceptions. Consequently, “He came unto his own, and his own received him not” (John. 1:11).
