- Love is not provoked (v.5)
· Not easily irritated, angered, quick-tempered
· Love is easily approachable, patient
- Love does not keep records of someone's sins (v.5)
· Love forgives and forgets
· God does this to us in Christ (Rom. 4:6-8)
· What do we do when others sin against us then? (Matt. 18:15-18 | Gal. 6:1-2 | 2 Tim. 2:24-26 | Eph. 4:32 | Luke 23:34)
- Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth (v.6)
· This love is holy, righteous, godly
· Do we rejoice in sin (our's or other's)? (Is. 5:20 | Heb. 1:9 | Matt. 5:6)
- Love always covers (v.7 | 1 Pet. 4:8)
· To keep another's sin confidential/concealed
· Love does not gossip
- Love always believes (v. 7)
· Love is not always suspicious and pessimistic
· Love takes people at their word and is generous in judgements
- Love always hopes (v. 7)
· Love hopes in God's work in other Christians
- Love always endured (v. 7 | 2 Tim. 2:12)
· Love forbears times or trials
The Non-cessation of Love (v.8-13 | Eph. 2:6-7 | Ps. 103:17)
- Love will never ever end
- But the gifts are temporary and will end
