Apostasy in These Last Days

False teachers were arising in the church at Ephesus where Timothy was serving. Paul wants Timothy and the church not to be shocked by it and to understand it so that they can guard against it. We must listen to the Word of God and recognize that the Spirit says that some will do this and not be surprised when it happens. This is why we place such a premium on sound doctrine in this church! Because false doctrine will lead you away from Christ! The NT is filled with warnings and instructions about this. The devil wants to destroy you and his most effective weapon is not some kind of sensationalized spiritual confrontation but doctrine—false doctrine!
