The Fellowship of Faith

87 ( 71 | 16 )

Philemon is a small, easily missed letter, however, it has something quite profound to tell us about the power of Christ to transform personal lives and revolutionise relationships. Paul is writing to his dear friend Philemon to address a potentially divisive issue: the need for reconciliation with his estranged slave. In this first message, we will see how Christ has done a deep work in Philemon, and how the fruit of His saving work in him has provided the foundation for reconciliation. We easily become complacent and comfortable in our Christianity. We lose sight of the dynamic, transforming power of the Gospel, and forget the call to live a life of faith and love both in the context of Christian community, and in the world in which we live and move. Philemon stands as an example to us of how we may have confidence that the Father is at work in and through us in order to build His church and glorify His name in the world.
