Living in light of the end

Our Lord Jesus tells us what to expect at the end of all things so that we can be ready. In order to press home the need to be prepared, he gives us one simple parable, then two faithful sayings, followed by two particular counsels, concluded by one summary statement. In this way, he urges his people to take heed to themselves, and so to watch and pray, in order that we might stand before the Son of Man at his coming.
