The Lord Relented

As Moses' time on the mountain with God is coming to an end, God tells him of the Israelite's idolatry with the golden calf. God tells Moses that He will consume the Israelites in his anger and make him into a great nation. Moses' response is to remind God that his name is associated with the people and of his promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. We should remember that none of this was outside of God's knowledge or sovereign will and so, there is much instruction here for us in our duties in prayer before God and in the way that God uses his servants to accomplish his ends.
