Nature Called as Witness to God
Series The Book of Acts
36
God has not left himself without witness.
So said the Apostle Paul to a bunch of pagan hillbillies in the Lyconian hills around the town of Lystra. He and Barnabas were at pains to prevent them from sacrificing a couple of bulls in honour of them, declaring that Zeus and Hermes had visited them.
In this sermon we explore Paul's two points in his brief sermon recorded in Acts. Paul points to 'General Revelation' and 'Common Grace' as the witness that God has left to point all people to the existence of God.
In Romans 1 we hear Paul reason more extensively that the whole world is without excuse when they fail to give honour and gratitude to God - because they have suppressed the truth that is evident to them in nature.
