Series The Gospel of John

We read in John 1:29-34 that John the Baptist bore witness of Jesus as the Messiah in two ways. First, he declared that Jesus was the promised Savior of the world (1:29-31). Secondly, John then declared that God had directly identified and confirmed to him that Jesus was the promised Messiah (1:32-34). In these two paragraphs we see two aspects of salvation that our Savior brings to us: (1) He is the Lamb who takes away our sin, and (2) He is the One who baptizes His people with the Holy Spirit, whereby He enables them to live holy lives of obedience to their Lord. Both of these works that King Jesus employs, are essential to salvation, as we will consider today.
