Our continuing city

God's people recognise that our present place—this fallen world—is a place of instability and hostility to Christ and his people. They make a plain confession that here we have no continuing city—we do not expect it and would not desire it. They express a pressing desire for the city which has foundations, the full enjoyment in glory of the kingdom of grace to which they have been set apart by the blood of Christ. They seek this kingdom by eager expectation, earnest prayer, and energetic labour, finding consolation, zeal and praise in knowing what lies ahead.
