The Plight of the Preacher's Wife

The woman who is the subject of this Bible passage was a preacher's wife. Her predicament was very much brought about because she was a preacher's wife. Her husband's preparation for the ministry brought them into financial hardship and ultimately into debt.
And just when things seemed they could get no worse, they did. Her husband died leaving his widow and children in great plight. The creditor threatened to take her sons and make them bondslaves.
What happened next is a wonderful source of solace for all preachers, their wives and families, who very often find themselves in very difficult circumstances.
This event holds a message for every one called to the work of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. God is obligated to look after His servants.
