God of the Broken Heart

When words fail to give us the whole picture, God calls Hosea to marry Gomer, a prostitute, to illustrate the sinful ways of Israel toward God. Gomer's unfaithfulness is overcome by Hosea's generosity to buy her back and redeem her from her sin. This is an awful story of adultery and ugly unfaithfulness and yet it is a beautiful story of God's great love and faithfulness for his people.
