With Israel's kingdom secured, David enjoyed a time of grateful reflection. Recalling his promises to Jonathan and Saul, he sought their remaining heir—Jonathan's crippled son, Mephibosheth. Land, servants, and honor were restored, and Mephibosheth was welcomed like a son to the king's table.
