Contextualization in the first century

What does the Jerusalem Council have to do with integration and contextualization? Quite simply, the reason they needed to resolve this theological and ecclesiological dispute is because of the Gentiles that were coming to the faith in Syria and Asia Minor. The four requirements laid out in Acts 15 are not the new rules for the New Covenant community. Rather, they are words of wisdom in light of the fact that the Gentiles are living closely to the Jews, who for generations have followed the Law of Moses. This passage teaches us some important lessons about contextualization.
