The Sanctification of Time (Num. 27-28)

Why does Numbers give these regulations about the feasts here? As we’ve seen, the particular laws and rules that God gives throughout Numbers connects with Israel’s failures in the wilderness.

Israel’s sins in Numbers 25 were idolatry and sexual immorality – the Baal of Peor. And so God commands Moses – here is the way that you should worship; here is the way that you should sanctify time day by day, week by week, month by month, and year by year, so that you do not again fall into idolatry.

Against the backdrop of Israel’s sexual immorality and idolatry, these offerings call Israel to structure time according to the worship of God.

So, how should we think about all these offerings?
