In My Place

88

The centrality of the sacrifices required by God in Old Testament worship shows us just how seriously God takes our sin. Sin MUST be atoned for, the price is blood and that blood is a non-negotiable issue. God is too righteous to simply discount our sin as if it did not matter! Since it must be paid for and we cannot provide that payment God Himself provided for us. In the old system of worship, He counted the blood of animals as sufficient to stave off His wrath for a season. But that blood could never fully remove sin. So in the fullness of time, Christ came and died for our sin. But both the blood of the previous sacrifices and the blood shed on the cross, require that God count it as being shed in our place. This sermon focuses on the doctrine of substitution, of imputation and displays how important it is to the doctrine of justification.
