Old And New Treasures

As Jesus has finished teaching his disciples about the nature of the kingdom, He tells them that they are now scribes, discipled in the teaching of the kingdom. As the ruler of an estate brings out of his storehouse treasures that have been stored and passed down from earlier generations; as well as treasures that have been recently accumulated and added to the estate's holdings; so the disciples were now able to open up the older prophetic teachings in light of the new information they had just been taught. The apostles would, through Christ's teaching and the Spirit's inspiration, infallibly interpret the Old Testament; and also add to that the clearer teaching of the New Testament. Understanding the kingdom provides a necessary key to putting the pieces of the entire Scriptures together properly.
