Little Sins Spoil a Man of Wisdom

Like dead flies in the ointment of the perfumer, so is a little sin to the reputation of a man of wisdom. Solomon had a way of saying things that stood out, such as, don't be like the fool who could not find the way into the town where he lived. Someone has rightly said that as servants of the Lord we ought to strive to finish well, for if you do some small sin and spoil your reputation for the Lord, it is only human nature to remember the one wrong thing you did and forget everything good thing you did right. We all know that the news media capitalizes on such indiscretions. It makes for drama in the newspapers and punch lines on the evening news. For this reason let us pray like king David of old, Lord do not let me fall into the hands of man.
