Life in the Spirit
Series Galatians
Galatians 5:24-6:5
I. Walk (Keep in step with) in the Spirit - 5:24-26
v. 24 - have crucified the flesh - Gal. 2:20-21
v. 25 - Walk (Keep in step) with the Spirit.
It's a different verb than the "walk" of v.16.
v. 26 - Flows right into 6:1.
II. Restoring the Brother in Transgression - 6:1
A. We are to Gently confront their sin(s).
B. We are to Humbly confront their sin(s).
C. We are to Consider that we too can be
overtaken in a trespass.
1. We should first of all, be willing to give
our brother the benefit of a doubt and not
simply assume the worst.
2. We need to make sure they really are on the
wrong path.
III. Life in the Church - 6:2-5
Verse 3 links back to 5:26.
Verses 1-2 show we are to be our brother's
keeper.
Verses 4-5
Comparing ourselves against those we consider to
be inferior is not the way of holiness - but
instead the way of self-righteousness - and we
know self-righteousness was a real problem for
the Galatians.
John Stott -- "There is one burden we cannot share... and that is our responsibility to God on the day of judgment. On that day you cannot carry my pack and I cannot carry yours."
