I. YOUNG MAN COMES TO CHRIST
Ref: Mk 10:17-31; Lk 18:18-30; Prov 29:5; Jn 15:5; Rom 3:26

  1. Comes with Flattery ("good master")
  2. Comes Presumptuously ("what...shall I do?")
  3. Comes to Be Vindicated ("eternal life?")

II. CHRIST CONVEYS HEAVENLY TRUTH
Ref: Rom 3:23; Heb 4:15; Jn 16:8

  1. Jesus is Good Because He is God
    a. no one good
  2. Jesus Presents the Requirements for Entry
    a. gives His own credentials
  3. Jesus' Word Carries Conviction
    a. "what lack I yet?"

III. CHRIST CONFRONTS THE UNREGENERATE
Ref: Hebr 12:1; 1 Jn 1:8-9

  1. "If thou wilt be perfect..."
    a. does something compete with Christ?
    b. what competes with Christ?
  2. Sorrow or Salvation
    a. he went away sorrowful
    b. what is your response?

IV. CHRIST COMMENTS ON THE LUST OF THE FLESH

  1. The Wealth of the World Hinders
  2. The Astonishment of the Disciples
  3. The Hope in Christ Alone

V. CHRIST CALLS SINNERS TO HIMSELF BY THE GOSPEL

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Heb 11:6

  5. Look at JESUS CHRIST'S CONSUMMATION
    a. Explicit Return
