WSC 57-63: The Holy Day

THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT
Text: Exodus 20:8-11

Introduction
άγιος = Holy(Agios)

1)What?
-A Creation Ordinance and Moral Law that 1 day in 7 belongs to the Lord

2)Who?
-Gentiles and Jews, and all men must keep it.

3)When?
-In the OT, the last day, in the NT, the
first day is appointed.

4)Why?
-Observance of a day to remember God as our Creator and Redeemer

5)How?
-Setting apart the whole day for worship except for works of piety, necessity and mercy.
