Qualities of a Sound Church - Message 4 - Qualities for Men.The Apostle Paul wrote to his son in the faith, Titus, to assist him in setting things in order in the churches on Crete. Part of his instructions to Titus include the direction for Titus to “speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine” (Titus 2:1). To do this Titus is to tell the church what characteristics accompany a godly life. It is not a list of dos and don'ts. It is a lifestyle of healthy spiritual living based on the truth of God's Word. After discussing the dreaded "D Word" - doctrine - we see that there are six things that will be present in the life of a man who walks with God. He will be sober minded, dignified, self-controlled, and mature in faith, love, and patience. So what does sound doctrine look like being lived out in the lives of older men?
