Treasures of Darkness

102

It is more important to be reminded of what we know and learn to apply it than to be always striving to learn new things. It is a long distance between the intellect and the heart, and just because we 'know' something doesn't mean it has been effectually applied to our hearts.

It was through David's experiences in the 'horrible pit' that he learned the melody of this deliverance song.

We should never underestimate what a preacher goes through to get a message to his God-given people. Many times God takes him through tremendous trials so that he will understand what he is preaching. Pray for your pastor as he prepares his sermons for you!

At the end of his trial, Job's hearing of the ear was blessed, but then he saw with his eyes, and this gave him great insight into God and His character. Sometimes God's writing in secret ink needs the flame applied to be able to be read.

Prayer is the guideline to this great treasure--humble, expectant, patient, persevering prayer. There are blessed discoveries, 'treasures of darkness,' received from continual trials. These blessings include being brought out of the miry clay, having our goings established, and being given a new song. 'Many shall see it, and fear.' We get to be messengers of such great deliverance!
