An Unwavering Gaze

After reading of the faithful works, the acts, of the saints of old, the reader of this letter to the Hebrews might be tempted to think that the work of the saints is complete. However, the inspired writer speaks of just the opposite. Here we see that the saints of old are witnesses, watching, waiting, for the completion of the church. And here then the call to continue, to persevere, to endure, by mortifying sin and shedding, casting off, any and all encumbrances which would be obstacles to following Christ. Here then we are taught that followers of Christ will not grow weary or lose heart, and thus, will hold fast their confession and preserve their soul, if, by the Spirit, they keep their heart fixed upon the author and perfecter of their faith, Jesus Christ.
