Paul's Shipwreck on Malta

After more than two years of imprisonment in Caesarea, it seemed Paul was at last headed for Rome as the Lord promised. That was indeed the case, but the voyage would see the continuation of the same pattern of unexpected hardship and suffering. Two years of frustrating and senseless house arrest in Caesarea had pressed Paul's faith, but that challenge would pale in comparison to what lay ahead. Now perhaps more than ever, Paul was going to have to take to heart his own words of encouragement to the saints: "Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God."
