On Easter Sunday, Jesus of Nazareth offers convincing proof that he is the Son of God
On Easter Sunday Jesus of Nazareth offers convincing proof that he is the Son of God the Savior of the world, and so He commands everybody to believe in Him:
- the nature of that proof
- the reaction to that proof
- the outcome of that proof
Questions to think about during the sermon:
Point 1:
1 What ‘honour’ does Jesus give to the Jewish Council? What does this demonstrate?
2 Who are the most important witnesses to the resurrection? Why?
3 What can we conclude from the fact that the leaders of Israel know that the body of Jesus is gone?
Point 2:
4 For the chief priests and the elders, what changed on Easter Sunday?
5 How does our text demonstrate that we cannot rely on science to prove that the resurrection of Jesus – or anything in the Bible – is true?
Point 3:
6 Which serious responsibility is emphasized in our text?
7 What does Matthew imply when he refers to the Israelites as ‘Jews’?
