All things are yours

223 ( 138 | 85 )

"All things are yours" is not a statement describing how things may appear to others. Our circumstances and experience may suggest that we have very little to be encouraged in. This is not a statement dependent on how well things appear to be going in our lives. It is not a truth that arises from ourselves, what we think we have or our achievements as a church or as individuals. Our great struggle is that we want something that is our own, or better than what the next person has. Paul blows that apart by saying, 'All things are yours', not just that thing. Our attempt to secure a place for ourselves above others and boasting in something God has given us is seen to be a pitiful comparison to the "all things" that we have been freely given in Christ.
