It Is A Fearful Thing To Fall Into the Hands of the Living God

Main Idea: We must not continue sinning!

• Culpability for sinning (26)
 Sinning which is deliberate (26)
 Sinning after knowledge of the truth (26)
 Sinning which is continuous (26)
 Sinning with no repentance (26)

• Certainty of judgment for sinning
 No longer remains a sacrifice for sins (26)
 A fearful expectation of judgment (27)
 A fury of fire which will consume adversaries (27)

• Covenant basis for liability: Old Covenant vs. New (28-29)
 Anyone setting aside the Old Covenant died (28)
 How much more those who sin under the New (29)
 He who tramples underfoot the Son of God
 He who profanes the blood of the covenant
 He who outrages the Spirit of grace

• Character of the Judge (30-31)
 We know the Judge (30)
 Vengeance is mine, I will repay (30)
 The LORD will judge His people (30)
 A fearful thing to fall into hands of the living God! (31)
