II. Ultimate Hope (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17; 1 Corinthians 15:20-26,50-54; Acts 24:15; John 5:28-29; 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10; Titus 2:13).
The Biblical Rapture is at the End of All Things.
Dispensationalists wrong about the nature and timing of the rapture. The Coming of the End of all Things
Christ's coming said to be soon in NT (e.g. James 5:8; 1 Peter 4:7; Revelation 22:20), but is this the imminent return? No.
i. The Bible shows certain events had to happen before Christ's return (Matthew 24:14; 2 Thessalonians 2; Romans 11; OT prophecies).
ii. Exact timing of Christ's return is unknown (Matthew 25:13).
iii. The "soon-ness" of Christ's return is understood from God's perspective of eternity and knowing that this is the next event in redemptive history (Acts 3:21; 2 Peter 3:3-14).
--> Biblical focus not on timing of Christ's coming, but on Christ and the fact of his coming.
