After Peter and Cornelius meet, Peter realizes the meaning of the vision concerning clean and unclean animals as it applies to Jews and Gentiles. God has united Jew and Gentile through faith in the Messiah. The age of the Messiah is one characterized by people of every tribe and tongue uniting in the truth of the gospel of Christ. This was prophesied in the Old Testament and now finds it fruition in the New Covenant era.
