The Lord is My Shepherd

As I thought of what I would like to preach to you today, on this day of Hannah's baptism, I thought of this Psalm. This Psalm will be a good portion of God's word for us to think upon because it shows us the care of our Lord Jesus over the souls of all His people. King David wrote this Psalm, and I believe that it was probably written in that transition time, from when he was a shepherd over his father's flocks, to his being brought into the court of Saul and banqueted by the king after his slaying Goliath the Philistine. He was content to be a shepherd watching over sheep for his father in the country. He would eventually become a shepherd over God's people Israel.
It says in Psalm 78, verse 70 – "God chose David His servant, and took him from following the ewes that had young He brought him, to shepherd Jacob his people, and Israel His inheritance." "So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands." That is – David was able to shepherd the people of Israel well, because the Lord was His shepherd. The question I bring before you at this time is – Is the Lord your Shepherd? If the Lord is your shepherd then you will be led and guided skillfully by His hands in the following ways.
