Lessons of a Hard Ministry

Following the persecution suffered at the hands of Pashhur the priest, Jeremiah encouraged his heart in his God. "But the Lord is with me as a dread warrior; therefore my persecutors will stumble; they will not overcome me. They will be greatly shamed, for they will not succeed. Their eternal dishonor will never be forgotten" (20:11). The Lord did not promise an easy and prosperous ministry but He promised Himself in it. Knowing the Lord is all one needs to persevere in suffering.
