God’s kingdom promises no less than a godly, wholesome and joyful future—ourselves perfected and all creation renewed, with God and humanity in perfect communion, forever. If this is the kingdom to come, what about now? What does it mean that this kingdom is already inaugurated, or even present? Jesus and the apostles tell us that the power of the future is already working in us and for us. They tell us that what the world needs now is the hope we have. And they encourage us to remain faithful, even when we cannot understand how all this is working out.
