Lights in a Dark World

250 ( 186 | 64 )

We are to shine as lights in contrast to this dark, depraved world. That is done by avoiding complaining and arguing, because the depravity of this world is a rejection of God’s law, and at the root of that is a rejection of God’s will, which is exactly what complaining is. We are a contrast to the world when we go in the opposite direction of that road. Complaining has the inevitable result of arguing against each other because we want to assign blame. There is a place for healthy debate, but it crosses the line into arguing when there is anger and combativeness, when one party is behaving like a fool, when the goal is to defeat the other person, or when one person is pressing an issue beyond its level of importance.
