LD 2: Misery on the Road to Happiness

The Heidelberg Catechism claims that the first thing I need to know, in order to live and die happily, is how great my sin and misery are. That’s a paradox, an apparently self-contradictory statement. It seems like knowing our sin and misery would be the first step toward greater misery! In this sermon we attempt to understand that paradox and how knowing our true standing before God is the first step toward true and eternal comfort.
