Parenting God's Way

In Hebrews 12, we have a parallel given between earthly fathers (parents) and our heavenly Father. The parallel is given to illustrate the love of God and the reason why Christians go through difficulties in life. Hebrews calls these difficulties the discipline of the Lord, and (assuming earthly parents also discipline their kids) uses the Lord's discipline as evidence of His unconditional love.
