Overview of the 70 Weeks

In answer to Daniel's fervent prayer, six purposes of God are to be accomplished within the 70 weeks of years, three of them stated negatively and three positively. While the history of the Jews as a theocratic nation is certainly featured in the events to be unfolded, verse 24 summarizes the whole work of redemption to be accomplished within the 70 weeks. The sermon challenges the dispensational view of this prophecy (which sees the fulfillment with regard to the Jews to fall outside the 70 weeks), and emphasizes that the whole work of Christ is the central theme of God's purpose in the 70 weeks.
