Why Should God Bless America?

The night before preaching this open-air sermon at Pershing Square, in downtown Los Angeles, Tony read Psalm 33 to his family. After reading the psalm of David, Tony looked back again to verses 10-12. He could not help but to think of America--a nation that claims to be blessed by God. But America is not a nation 'whose God is the Lord.' America is a nation that blasphemes God through the national sins of abortion and homosexuality. Tony forcefully preaches these sad truths from the corner of 6th and Hill, before turning his attention to the gospel of God's amazing grace--good news reserved for those who hope in His steadfast love (v. 18) and who wait on the Lord (v. 20).
