I. The Context -- Our Ultimate Goal 9-11
1 Thessalonians 2:4
1. Jesus did not live to please Himself – and neither should we.
2. The Bible talks about pleasing God – Heb. 11:5,6; 13:16, 20, 21
3. We please God through our relationship with Him.
This verse is the climax of Paul's theme which began in 4:16.
We can know Paul's intended the audience by going all the way back to 3:18.
II. Exegesis of Verse 10
2 key aorist verbs – “appear” and “receive”
III. What Should we Think of this Judgment?
1. It will be universal. Revelation 20:11-15
2. Our eternal salvation will not be in question. Matt. 25:31-45
The Saints will join in judgment against reprobate men and angels – 1 Cor. 6:1-3

IV. What Should Glean from 2 Cor. 5:10?
1. We will not face condemnation.
2. This passage shows it does matter how we live in this life.
3. We should think of it positively – but there is a warning.
