The cup of blessing

Instead of asking whether the cup is half-empty or half-full, the Christian rejoices that he has a cup at all! The Lord has prepared a table, and given us a cup of blessing which overflows. Here we remind ourselves of the fact of our blessing, the nature or state of our blessing, and the cost of our blessing. The reason why any believer has a cup of divine mercy and favour is because our Saviour drank the cup of wrath and judgment.
