Introduction: We need Christian maturity in the practice of the gifts (20)
The “signs” of tongues and prophecy (21-22)
“Tongues”: a sign of judgment on OT unbelievers (21; Is 28:11-12)
So then… (22)
Tongues are a sign for unbelievers, not for believers (22a)
Prophecy is (a sign) for unbelievers, not for believers (22b)
The “effects” of tongues and prophecy on unbelievers (23-25)
Tongues—unbelievers will say you're crazy (23)
Prophecy—unbelievers will be convicted of sin and worship God (24-25)
